Whiskey from Japan enjoys an excellent reputation. Founded in 1910, the Matsui Shuzo distillery is located on the coast of Japan, in Tottori Prefecture.

The Kurayoshi 18 yo Pure Malt is a new Japanese whiskey that was only launched in 2016. It is a blend of an 18-year-old Japanese and an 18-year-old Scottish single malt whiskey.

This blend gives the Pure Malt Whiskey a perceptible Speyside character.

The whiskey scores with a discreetly spicy and malty aroma of bread and hay. On the palate, the 18-year-old Kurayoshi presents itself with a perfectly balanced, soft and wonderfully sweet body. It shows hints of vanilla, malt and oak tannins as well as a gentle spiciness. A medium-long, slightly smoky finish with oak spice rounds off the drinking pleasure. The Kurayoshi 18 yo is available in limited quantities.
